Position Summary
Part-time librarians at Bellevue College participate in reference and instruction responsibilities, with special library projects as assigned.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
Part-time faculty is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. This position is paid hourly, at $53.49 per hour. The successful candidate is expected to work between 5 and 22 hours per week.
Generous benefits package for eligible employees is offered through Washington State plans that includes multiple medical, dental, life and disability coverage choices for employees and dependents; choices of retirement and deferred compensation plans; paid personal leave plan; transit program, reduced tuition, employee discounts and memberships, etc. Eligible employees are faculty who work a combined load of at least 50% at Bellevue College and other Washington State public institutions of higher education for two consecutive quarters are eligible for health and dental insurance at the start of the second consecutive quarter.
Part-time faculty with 50% or more load is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

About the Department
The Library Media Center plays a central role in accomplishing Bellevue College's mission and goals by being student-centered and committed to teaching excellence. In order to advance the lifelong educational development of students, the Library continually strengthens its collections and services in breadth and depth, supporting increased curricular offerings and varied instructional modes of delivery.
Essential Functions
Provide reference and library instruction, in-person and online
Collaborate with faculty to develop assignments and incorporate new resources into classes
Create digital and/or physical tools that promote library resources and services
Contribute to library development and initiatives
Participate in working on library projects
Other duties as assigned
Early morning, evening and weekend work may be required
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS or MLS) from an ALA-accredited institution
Ability to serve library patrons from diverse backgrounds
Experience providing reference and instruction services in an academic library
Preferred Qualifications
Community college work experience
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Proficient with current and emerging library technologies
